Then the Hawthorne Killers arrived and some vital events began in time: the death of Sss-Thsss, the escape of Grah-Hoth from his prison- Skarragath (which also resulted in the destruction of Fort Remote), as well as his defeat and the assassination of Emperor Hawthorne (which forced the Empire to attack Avernum in revenge, triggering the Empire-Avernum War).Īfter those events, Avernum was never the same. A memorial pillar in Fort Avernum estimated that there were 94,000 Avernites that to date. They lived in peace, mostly undisturbed by the monsters. They created many subterrenean cities and fortifications such as Fort Avernum (the location where new arrivals were teleported), Silvar, Formello, Almaria and The Castle (the capital of Avernum). They started exploring it, eventually destroying many monsters and imprisoning the demon lord- Grah-Hoth. One of the most notable people from it was Thralni (bearer of the Orb of Thralni and Kozoth (bearer of the Demonslayer).Īround the end of the 700s-beginning of the 800s The Five archmagi and their apprentices, along with King Micah and his soldiers were banished into Avernum. Its first residents were cave creatures like rats and bats, later being populated by bigger ones such as Eyebeasts, Demons, etc.Īvernum remained an unexplored land until the First Expedition, sent by the Empire.
